News Summary
Maruti Suzuki has unveiled a Wagon R prototype that runs on flex fuel. It is a part of its evaluation of flex fuel technology for India. The Wagon R prototype can run on any ethanol-petrol blend between 20 per cent (E20) and 85 per cent (E85). This fuel is a blend of 15 per cent gasoline and 85 per cent ethanol. It is cheaper and greener than regular petrol.
It will comply with the BS6 phase-II emission norms. The prototype looks the same as the standard Wagon R, except for the fluorescent badging. Upcoming Maruti Wagon R Flex Fuel has the same 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 88.5bhp and 113 Nm of torque. Wagon R Flex Fuel is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The Wagon R Flex Fuel is not in production yet. It is expected to launch in 2025. New Wagon R Flex Fuel will be India’s first mass-segment flex-fuel car.
