One of the main highlights of the Kiger is its safety rating from Global NCAP, an independent agency that conducts crash tests on cars sold in various markets around the world. The Kiger received a four-star rating for both adult and child occupant protection, making it one of the safest subcompact SUVs in India.
The Kiger scored 14 out of a possible 17 points for adult occupant protection and 29 out of a possible 49 points for child occupant protection. The test was conducted on the base variant of the Kiger, which comes with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, seatbelt reminder and speed-sensing door lock as standard safety features.
The higher variants of the Kiger also get four airbags (including side airbags), seatbelts with pre-tensioner and load-limiter for the driver, ISOFIX child seat anchors, electronic stability control and hill start assist as additional safety features.
The Global NCAP report praised the Kiger for its stable bodyshell and footwell area, good protection for the head and neck of both front occupants, adequate protection for the chest of the passenger and good protection for the right knee of both front occupants.
However, it also pointed out some areas of improvement, such as marginal protection for the chest and knees of the driver, weak protection for the chest of both rear child occupants and poor visibility of the ISOFIX markings.
News Summary
The Renault Kiger is a cheap subcompact SUV with a roomy cabin, stylish design, good performance, and high safety. It’s ideal for car lovers who want a safe, fun-to-drive, and practical vehicle.
