Honda has recently unveiled the new generation of its compact SUV, the WRV, in Indonesia. The new WRV is based on the Amaze’s platform and features a more SUV-like design and styling than its predecessor. The new WRV is expected to launch in India by August 2023 with an estimated price range of Rs. 9.00 – 13.00 Lakh. In this article, we will look at some of the key specifications and features of the new WRV and compare it with its rivals in the Indian market.
New Honda WRV Dimensions, Ground Clearance, Boot Space, and Tyre Size
The New Honda WRV has a length of 4,060mm, a width of 1,730mm, and a height of 1,600mm. It has a wheelbase of 2,550mm and a ground clearance of 200mm. The boot space is 363 litres, which can be expanded to 881 litres by folding the rear seats. The tyre size is 195/60 R16 for all variants.
|Specification||New WRV||Old WRV||Difference|
|Ground Clearance (mm)||200||188||+12|
|Boot Space (litres)||363||363||0|
|Tyre Size||195/60 R16||195/60 R16||0|
As we can see from the table, the new WRV is slightly longer and taller than the old WRV, which gives it a more SUV-like stance. It also has a higher ground clearance, which improves its off-road capability. The boot space and tyre size remain unchanged.
New Honda WRV Engine and Performance
The New Honda WRV is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 89bhp and 110Nm of torque. The engine is standard with a CVT (automatic gearbox). There is no diesel option available for the new WRV. The fuel efficiency and performance figures are not yet revealed by Honda.
The old WRV had two engine options: a 1.2-litre petrol engine that made 89bhp and 110Nm of torque and a 1.5-litre diesel engine that made 99bhp and 200Nm of torque. The petrol engine was paired with a five-speed manual transmission or a CVT, while the diesel engine was paired with a six-speed manual transmission.
|Specification||New WRV (Petrol)||Old WRV (Petrol)||Old WRV (Diesel)|
|Engine Displacement (cc)||1,498||1,199||1,498|
The New Honda WRV has a larger petrol engine than the old WRV, but the power and torque output are the same. The new WRV does not have a diesel option or a manual transmission option for the petrol engine.
Upcoming Honda WRV Features and Safety
The New Honda WRV comes with a host of features and safety equipment that make it a modern and attractive compact SUV. Some of the features include:

Rivals and Competition
The New Honda WRV will face stiff competition from other subcompact SUVs in the Indian market, such as:
- Hyundai Venue
- Kia Sonet
- Tata Nexon
- Mahindra XUV300
- Maruti Suzuki Brezza
- Toyota Urban Cruiser
- Renault Kiger
- Nissan Magnite
These rivals offer a variety of engine options, including diesel, turbo-petrol, and hybrid. They also offer different transmission options, such as manual, automatic, AMT, DCT, and iMT. Some of them also have more features and safety equipment than the new WRV.
The new WRV is a significant upgrade from the old WRV in terms of design, styling, features, and safety. It has a more SUV-like appearance and a higher ground clearance. It also has a larger petrol engine and a CVT as standard. However, it lacks a diesel option and a manual transmission option for the petrol engine.
It also faces tough competition from other subcompact SUVs in the Indian market, which offer more variety and value for money. The new WRV is expected to launch in India by August 2023 with an estimated price range of Rs. 9.00 – 13.00 Lakh. It will be interesting to see how it fares in the Indian market and whether it can attract more customers with its new features and styling.
