Mahindra Thar 5 Door Dimensions, Ground Clearance, Boot Space, Tyre Size

The Mahindra Thar 5 Door will be based on the same platform as the Thar 3 Door, but with a longer wheelbase and body to accommodate two extra doors and a larger cabin. The exact dimensions of the Thar 5 Door are not yet revealed, but it is expected to be around 300mm longer than the Thar 3 Door, which measures 3985mm in length, 1820mm in width, and 1920mm in height. The Thar 5 Door will also have a wider track or distance between the wheels to maintain stability and balance.

The ground clearance of the Thar 5 Door will be similar to the Thar 3 Door, which has a commendable 226mm of clearance that allows it to tackle rough terrains with ease. The boot space of the Thar 5 Door will be significantly more than the Thar 3 Door, which has a meagre 130 litres of luggage capacity. The Thar 5 Door will also have a rear door-mounted spare wheel, which will add to its visual appeal and utility.

The tyre size of the Thar 5 Door will be the same as the Thar 3 Door, which comes with 16-inch steel or alloy wheels wrapped in 245/75 R16 tubeless tyres. The tyres are specially designed for off-road conditions and provide good grip and traction on various surfaces.

New Mahindra Thar 5 Door Engine, Performance, Transmission

The Thar 5 Door will get the same engines as the Thar 3 Door, which are a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. However, they may be tuned slightly differently to suit the larger size and weight of the Thar 5 Door. The petrol engine produces 150hp and 320Nm of torque, while the diesel engine generates 130hp and 300Nm of torque in the Thar 3 Door. The power and torque figures may be increased by around 10-15% in the Thar 5 Door.

The transmission options for the Thar 5 Door will also be the same as the Thar 3 Door, which are a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Both the gearboxes offer smooth and responsive shifts and are well-matched to the engines. The Thar 5 Door will also have both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and four-wheel drive (4WD) configurations, depending on the variant. The RWD variants will be cheaper and more fuel-efficient, while the 4WD variants will have better off-road performance and capability. The Thar 5 Door will also have a low-range gearbox for extreme off-roading situations.

Mahindra Thar 5 Door Expected Launch Date and Price in India

The launch date of the Thar 5 Door is not yet confirmed by Mahindra, but it is expected to hit the showrooms by March or April of 2024. The price of the Thar 5 Door is also not yet revealed, but it is expected to start from around Rs.15 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards. The Thar 5 Door will be positioned as a more premium and spacious alternative to the Thar 3 Door, which is priced

from around Rs.10 lakh to Rs.15 lakh (ex-showroom) depending on the variant and features. The Thar 5 Door will compete with other 5-door SUVs in the Indian market, such as the Tata Safari, the MG Hector Plus, and the Hyundai Alcazar.
